QSAF signs a MoU with QICDRC

Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) have opened the official premises of Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation (QSAF) to benefit from the international arbitration environment available in court facilities, which will be reflected positively on the organisation’s performance of its arbitration functions in sports disputes. The Foundation of Qatar Sports Arbitration was established in accordance with international standards applied in the sports sector to be competent in the consideration of sports disputes.

QICDRC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Foundation of Qatar Sports Arbitration to begin their cooperation in the field of alternative dispute resolution. The memorandum provides for joint cooperation to strengthen the international arbitration environment in the State of Qatar and co-ordinate the organisation of events, seminars, training workshops and conferences on arbitration, conciliation and mediation.

Mr. Faisal Bin Rashid Al-Sahouti, CEO of QICDRC and Mr. Ibrahim Bin Khalil Al-Mohannadi, President of Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation signed the MoU. The MOU also included the exchange of experiences and information on various dispute settlement instruments for the common interest, the creation of an international dispute settlement environment.

For his part, Mr. Ibrahim bin Khalil Al-Mohannadi said that the partnership with the Qatar International Court will enhance the legal environment for the alternative means of conflict in the sports sector and will allow Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation to start operations in facilities equipped with the latest technological means. Al-Mohannadi added that the Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation is looking to benefit from the expertise of the Qatar International Court and to enhance the arbitration environment in Qatar.

Mr. Al-Sahouti stressed the importance of the MoU to focus on mutual cooperation between the two parties in supporting and enhancing the arbitration environment in the Qatar, recognising that arbitration is a successful and effective means of settling disputes in a quick and confidential manner. “Our partnership with the Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation will consolidate our efforts in the field of alternative dispute resolution, which will contribute to enhancing the dispute resolution environment in Qatar.”
